BepInEx Install Basics (Demo)

This is a conservative install flow for players who want to test mods without damaging their base demo setup.

Safe setup flow

  1. Back up your demo folder first.
  2. Install BepInEx 5 into the game root only.
  3. Launch once, then close to generate plugin folders.
  4. Add one mod at a time and test each change.
  5. Keep a rollback copy after each stable state.

Common mistakes

  • Dropping files into the wrong folder depth
  • Installing many gameplay mods before baseline testing
  • Using mixed mod versions across co-op teammates

Co-op rule

For gameplay-altering mods, keep versions aligned across the whole team. Version mismatch is a frequent source of false bug reports.
